Minneapolis South Lady Tigers traveled to St. Paul for a showdown with the Johnson High School Governors. The Lady Tigers returned all 5-starters from last year's state runner-up team, Tayler Hill, Ephesia Holmes, Tyisha Smith, Gabrielle Roberts and Jenny Houle. South's 6-4 Center Taqouia Hammick is now starting for the Lady Tigers. The Governors have a talented team with new comers Carolyn Mobley and Danielle Daniels. Superstar Alex Moore and Super Sophomore Tacita Gonzalez return for the Governors.
What was supposed to be a competitive game quickly turned into a blow-out. Superstar Tayler Hill picked-up her 3rd foul with 13 minutes left in the 1st half and had to sit.
Tyisha Smith took over, scoring 17 points, 5 steals and was perfect form the line with 11 free throws. Ephesia Holmes finished with 12 points. Tayler Hill scored a game high 19 points, all in the second half. Gabrielle Roberts had 16 points and took 3 charges. Senior Center Taqouia Hammick finished with 10 boards and 4 blocks.
Carolyn Mobley led the Governors with 16 points. Senior Captain Alex Moore tallied 14 points. But, South's defense was too much for the Governors.
