PLAYER PROFILE:
One of the state’s best basketball players period, Ephesia Holmes help lead Minneapolis North to a state championship as a freshman before heading to Minneapolis South. The senior point guard averaged 18 points as a junior and has over 1400 points in her career. Her basketball creds are too long to list. But here are a few highlights: member of the 2007 State All-Tournament Team, All-Conference (twice), All-Metro, Team Captain, put up 21 points in the state championship game at Target Center. Holmes is a gifted player who can take over a game with her scoring. She is one of the best pure shooters in the state. Her shot is effortless from long range. A leader on the court, the point guard walks the ball up the court. Holmes is very deliberate in her dribbling, slow but in control. If defenders get too close, her first step is lightning quick. She can get off a shot with little daylight. Holmes is great at taking you off the dribble and she can also catch and shoot.  This is a primetime player who knows how to get to her spot on the court. Holmes shoots the bank shot from either side of the elbow with razor sharp accuracy. She does not turn over the ball, a clutch performer in big games. Holmes is a feared offensive weapon.
