Hopkins High School |
HEIGHT:6-1 POSITION: Wing Forward GRADUATION: 2013 HIGH SCHOOL TEAM: Hopkins AAU TEAM: Metro Stars NBA/WNBA COMPARISON: Blake Griffin COLLEGE COMMITMENT: None PLAYER PROFILE: Nia Coffey is a BIG-TIME player with a potent mid-range jumper.
The 6'1" high flying wing forward has earned gPrep's nickname "Lady Skywalker" for her ability to jump out of the gym and play at the rim.
Coffey's game is at a national level. She is very long and athletic
and is the centerpiece of the Hopkins Royals, 2011 defending class 4A champions. Whatever "IT" is, Coffey has it and some. Her potential to play at a major D1 program is a given. She is a very hard worker with a top-notch work ethic and will not be out worked in practice or in games. Coffey is a tough competitor who plays with energy. She also brings it in BIG games and will not back down from the moment. Coffey is a lefty with nice handles. She can snatch rebounds out of the air and take it the distance. Her outside jumper is very pure, and her ability to finish over most defenders is rare. But what really makes Coffey great is her ability to fill the stat sheet. She does it all and can score in bunches, rebound, block shots, defend and anticipate and jump the passing lane. Coffey came within one cut of making the USA U16 National Team and is listed on ESPN HoopGurlz , as one of the Top 100 College Prospects in the 2013 class. She has natural abilities, but what makes Coffey great is her willingness to put in work. Coffey is one of the hardest working ballers in the off-season. So, it's never a surprise to see positive results come her way. TO WORK ON : Passing and making reads, when to pull up and when to take it all the way
