2009 - 2010 Team Preseason Rankings

  1. Lakeville North Cassie Rochel, Rachel Banham & newcomer Apiew Ojulu will be hard to beat this season. This is the most complete team on paper. I will be very surprised if the Panthers are not undefeated in March.
  2. Maple Grove Ellen Edison and Julie Kruse are both ready to make a run for a state championship.
  3. Hopkins The Royals will be a strong team again! But to get to state, injured guard Brianna Williams will have to return to form. Senior Hana Potter along with the Coffey sisters will have to take care of business in the meantime.
  4. Eden Prairie EP will be hungry again to make a return trip to state. Morgan Van Riper-Rose along with Jackie Johnson and Shayne Mullaney will be ready for the task.
  5. Hill-Murray 6'3" post Bethany Doolittle and guard Tessa Cichy will make some noise this season.
  6. Centennial The Class 4A-runner-up Cougars know they let one slip away at state last year. Senior Megan Waytashek along with Kahla Becken will need some help to keep up with Maple Grove.
  7. Edina Taylor Young has the potential to lead Edina to great things.
  8. Minneapolis South Four year starter Tyisha Smith is back from her injury. With the departure of McDonalds All-America Tayler Hill, everyone will need to step-up if South is to return to state. Smith, Ameshia Kearney and Sadiqah Jihad will create havoc in the back court for opponents.
  9. Eastview With their up-tempo style, this is a very dangerous team that is capable of beating anyone. Look for sharpshooter Darcey Rice and Haley Thomforde to lead the Lightning to big wins this season.
  10. Chaska Brooke Brown & Brianna Tisch made it to state as sophomores. The dynamic duo is hungry for a return trip.
  11. New Prague The loss to Minneapolis North at state still hurts. Look for superstar Hannah Strop along with Maggie Weiers to lead New Prague back to state.
  12. Armstrong One of the best teams last season, but they will need to get it done in the post season. Alyssa Marschner and Alli Hoefer has the ability to cause havoc this season.
  13. White Bear Lake A big win over St. Paul Central to get to state was not a fluke. Alexis Foley and company are the real deal.
  14. Bloomington Kennedy This is a very young team, led by freshman Jade Martin, junior Aubre Davis and senior Bailey Lund. Still the Eagles are more than ready to compete.
  15. DeLaSalle A new era begins with legendary Coach Faith Johnson Patterson taking over at DeLaSalle. I promise you, she will have them ready to compete, battle and win.
  16. Benilde Saint Margaret's Benilde is coming off an off- season last year. Traditionally this is a great basketball program. They will get back on track.
  17. Minneapolis Roosevelt We know Roosevelt has talent in Suriya McGuire and Shakila Boler. We don't know if they can win the big games to get to state. This is a must-win season for the Teddies. McGuire and Boler are hungry for a dance on the big stage.
  18. Burnsville They're always a team that can beat anyone on any given day.
  19. Osseo One of the youngest teams but also one of the best teams in the post season, Osseo is led by sophomore Makayla Bailey. Orioles will need to get it done during the regular season.
  20. Totino-Grace Great defensive intensity.
  21. St. Peter Superstar AnnMarie Brown is ready for the big time.
  22. Richfield Freshman Jessica January is ready to take Richfield to the next level.
  23. Saint Paul Central They're still a dangerous team, looking to re-establish itself as a powerhouse team this season. Jen Hill will be ready.
  24. Orono Orono was one game away from making it to the big-dance. This is a team built on defense, ball movement and executing on offense. With sophomore guard Amie Tunheim returning, they will be hungry to get to state.
  25. Champlin Park They're capable of making a lot of noise if Rachel Leitz and the supporting cast can go on a run.
