She’s the first in her family to play the game. Chaska High School’s Courtney Boylan has been starting varsity for the
Hawks since the 8th grade. In the summer Boylan plays for the Metro Stars, her AAU team. The 5’8” point guard is a scientist in the back court with takeover ability. She plays with supreme confidence and court swagger. Boylan can turn the corner off the dribble and finish in the paint at will. She’s so good, teams are forced to defend her with bigger players.

North Tartan-Larson’s 6’1” Kiara Buford was assigned to guard Boylan in the AAU semifinals. Buford said, “I knew she is their
best player. So, I wanted to slow her down.”  Boylan can also hurt you with her passing game.

The Chaska Hawks guard averaged 20-points per game in 2007. Against the best players in the state, Boylan quickly stands out. Her flawless footwork, ball handling skills, floor leadership and take-over-ability make her one of the top 10 basketball players in her class. Look for Boylan to be a candidate for “Player of the Year”. She has all the shots. Boylan can shoot the running floater in the paint, mid-range pull-up jumper, the long range jumper and can finish in traffic off the dribble. Iowa State apparently did its homework early when it comes to Boylan. And, she’s committed to Division One Iowa State. In fact, her game is college ready right now.

In February, the Chaska High junior scored 43 points against Apple Valley in the regular season. Boylan’s desire to get better is equally as impressive. While watching the end of another AAU game, Boylan can be seen practicing her ball control dribbling skills.

The buzz around AAU circles is that Boylan has emerged as a top player in her graduating class. Her basketball IQ is starting to get her mentioned in the same circles…as Minneapolis South High School Superstar Tayler Hill and College bound Standout Angel Robinson, from St. Paul Central. Boylan said, “ That’s a huge classification to be  put  in, but I  would love to be put into that. I look up to those players and I think they’re awesome.”
